LOUGHBOROUGH CHESS CLUB

About the Club

Loughborough Chess Club was founded about 1890 and currently is one of the strongest clubs in the Leicestershire Chess League.

The club also organises a few annual tournaments:

We also play friendly games on our regular club nights.  The most popular format for these is 10-minute games, i.e. each player has 10 minutes to make all their moves.  Now that we have some electronic clocks, Fischer time controls (an initial time limit to which a few seconds are added per move) have also become increasingly popular.

People who continue to attend the club are expected to pay an annual subscription fee.  Currently, the standard rate is £45.  Students and those who are otherwise unemployed are entitled to a discounted rate of £15.
